For many homeowners, comfort level is the most important consideration when they make decisions about HVAC products.  Here are five ways to make your home more comfortable.

Duct sealing: Duct systems have seams at every connection; if these seams aren’t sealed, there’s a good chance that conditioned air is escaping into places you’d rather not spend money to heat or cool while living space remains uncomfortable.  Seal the ducts properly to lower your bills and increase your personal comfort level.

Two-stage system: In climates where you need air conditioning for a majority of the year such as Texas, a two-stage cooling system is a good idea.  Adding another stage to your system will help to make you more comfortable, and the unit’s ability to run at a lower output, for a longer time will lower the electric bill.

Whole house dehumidifier: Air with too much moisture is often a problem, especially in Texas.  Moisture leads to mold and mildew, uncomfortable homes, and higher energy bills.  Regulating humidity is an important step toward ensuring your house is comfortable, because humid air feels warmer than dry air at the same temperature.

Programmable thermostat: This device allows you to set the thermostat to heat or cool effectively when you’re home, but turns the air up, or the heat down, when you’re away.  A programmable thermostat not only allows for increased comfort on winter mornings and hot summer days, but also lowers your energy bill.
